SYMBOLIC MIXED MEDIA ANIMAL WORKSHOP with Therese Gabriel Wilkins (Trees)

with Therese Gabriel Wilkins (Trees)

DATES: 14 & 15 May, 2022
TIME: 10am – 4pm
Peninsula Women’s Health Centre,
McMasters Road, Woy Woy

In this two-day workshop, we will be exploring the notion of your symbolic animal. It may be that you were born under a particular animal sign, you have always had an affinity with creatures from the sea, land or air. It is your art, your symbol and what that means for you will be unique and very different to anyone else.

You decide what your animal is and start thinking how you wish to represent that animal. Do you want it to stand out alone, head shot, put it in a landscape?

Mixed media means that you can use a whole lot of different materials to create your art piece which will be A3 size. Materials such as collage, paint, pencils, ink, pastels, coloured paper, stencils can be combined to create a piece.
With this in mind start thinking about your image, its form and the types of materials you would like to use to create your piece. To assist with your work, you can start sorting and finding pictures, magazine cut outs of animals, pictures from old books, photocopies or photographs of animals, pictures from old calendars of animals you like to represent and create in mixed media. If you have any things at home that you would like to use then please feel free to bring along.

Please note we will be creating a group mixed media animal art work as well that will be donated to Art Full Women.

This course is a body positive exploration, enjoying different mediums and having fun on the journey of learning more about ourselves and appreciating how remarkable our bodies are.
